Tammy's Blog: What a great family shower!

The day started out foggy and muggy.....but it turned out to be a pretty day. I arrived at mom and dad's at around 7:30am and Donato got there around 8:15am....we started working on decorating, making sandwiches, frosting the cake and just getting things ready. Thank God we had my mom, sister and Deona.....there's no way we could've done everything without them!

Thankfully, uncle Dodo (aka Donato) took care of Everett while we all decorated and got things ready.....they watched Sleeping Beauty......how apropriate, as we caught uncle Dodo's eyes closed several times. lol

But Ev enjoyed having his uncle there with him by his side......snoring or not. :o)

We set everything out...it all looked so beautiful....

The first thing everyone did when they arrived, was sign the guest book. Then they had to guess how many black beans were in the pitcher of rice. The person who guessed closest won a sweet prize.....while the groom and bride-to-be SURPRISINGLY guessed the EXACT number of black beans!!! They won a giant bag of rice and a giant bag of black beans and the beautiful pitcher the rice and beans were in. :o)

I knew my family wasn't too excited about playing "shower games", so I spiced up (lol) some fun activities so that we'd all enjoy the time together. Of course, the guys all went to the other room to watch the football game.....so we played without them.

For the first game, I handed them paper bags.....numbered 1 - 11. They were to to put their hands in the bag and guess what kitchen appliance was in the bag without looking. So, one at a time...they each guessed what was in each bag...At the end of the game, we went through what was in each bag, and the people who got the most number correct each won a little fun prize. While Chris & Kim, who miraculously guessed EVERY item correctly **a-hem** won all of the items in the bags! The fun things they won were an egg slicer, avacado slicer, timer, salt/pepper grinder, collapsable measuring cups, spatula set, rolling pin, garlic press, pot holders & towels, an electric knife and a salad spinner. YAY!

Then we played another game where I passed around about 8 spices in unlabeled teeny ziplock bags. Everyone had to guess what the spices were by smelling them. When all the bags had been passed around and sniffed, the people who guessed the most correct each received a sweet little gift to take home. Incredibly, both Chris & Kim guessed ALL of the spices correctly!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! :o) They won a beautiful spice rack to take home.Next we played a game that was a spin-off of "The Price Is Right"! The first prize up for Chris & Kim was a basket full of cleaning and household products such as toilet paper, paper towels, kleenex, rubber gloves, pinesol, dishwashing liquid, cascade, laundry detergent & softener, clorox, etc. But in order to win that basket they had to guess which price was correct on a jar of spaghetti sauce! The "audience" helped them choose the correct price....and they WON the basket of goodies!!!

The next item they could win was a basket full of nice BBQ utensils, BBQ cleaning brushes, a lighter, wood chips and various hot sauces, BBQ sauces and spices from Jardines! After the "audience" cheering them on to the correct price of the instant noodles, Chris & Kim were proud owners of the BBQ goodie bag!! :o)
